  • 1/4 cup finely ground dry coffee
  • 1/2 cup organic sugar
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons castor oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural vanilla extract


  1. Place the coffee and sugar in a medium size bowl.
  2. Add the vanilla and mix well.
  3. Add the oils and stir with a fork or the back of a spoon until well mixed and moistened.
  4. Store in an air-tight container and use as desired for soft skin. Especially good on legs for helping with cellulite.


Coffee is a great exfoliant, in that it helps remove dead skin cells and other impurities which end up clogging the pores. Caffeine is a well known diuretic and removes cellulite from the skin thus making it more firm and giving it a youthful appearance. Coffee is also a strong antioxidant and helps combat the free radicals which are generated on exposure to the UV rays of the sun.

Castor oil is rich in Ricinoleic acid which has potent anti-acne capabilities. Castor oil is also effective as an anti-ageing ingredient in that is aids in the production of collagen and elastin, which firm up the skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It is also a very nourishing moisturiser because of its concentrated fatty acids content. Fatty acids also help in countering blemishes as they penetrate deep into the scar tissue and encourages the growth of healthy skin around it.

Sugar is a natural exfoliator, and creates a gentle abrasion to even out the skin tone. It removes dead or damaged skin cells caused by pollution or sun exposure. It enhances blood circulation thereby increasing collagen production and skin cell regeneration. Sugar has glycolic acid which rejuvenates and helps keep the skin looking youthful and fresh. Sugar is also rich in alpha hydroxy acids, which are a potent anti-ageing compound.

Coconut oil increases the antioxidant activity in the body and increases skin’s self healing ability, thereby being very potent for sensitive skin. Coconut oil is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial thereby making it great for treatment of atopic dermatitis. Coconut oil is highly moisturizing although people with adult acne should use it with caution because of its comedogenic attributes.

Vanilla extract contains vanillin and eugenol which have potent antibacterial properties thus helping in combating acne and a multitude of other infections and inflammations. Vanilla extract is also a strong antioxidant with a high ORAC ( oxigen radical absorption capacity ) score.
