Luckily, most skincare experts disagree. With just a few minor changes to our lifestyle and the use of some natural homemade beauty recipes that seemingly elusive clear skin is possible.

Although there are a great many skincare products on the market which promise to help you get a flawless skin, please be aware that most of them have harsh chemicals which can only harm you in the long term. We recommend that, wherever possible, you should try homemade beauty treatments. In this article, however, we will list out a set a holistic lifestyle and beauty regimen which will help you look like your best and most radiant self.

Girls – Aim to drink atleast 2 litres or 8-9 cups of water per day. Also, ensure that you cut out all sugary drinks from your diet.
Guys – Drink atleast 3 litres or 12-13 cups of water per day. An easy way is to check the colour of your pee, clear pee indicates proper hydration while when yellow you need to reach out for that glass of water.

2. Use Sunscreen

Sun Damage is perhaps the number one cause for premature aging and the appearance of fine lines, age spots and wrinkles. So it is prudent to ensure that you are well guarded in this regard. 4. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is a powerful natural ingredient used in many skincare recipes. It is rich in Sorbitol, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kemelate and Glycerine which help in nourishing the skin. Aloe Vera increases the collagen production of the skin thereby boosting the healing and repair capability of the skin. Aloe Vera should be part of your daily skincare regimen, you can either use it once in the night (after using a gentle cleanser) or in the morning (again post cleansing). If you have to adopt just one of these suggestions from this article, we will recommend using Aloe Vera.

5. Proper Skincare Routine

Consistency is your best friend when it comes to maintaining a healthy complexion. So make sure you are doing the following on a daily basis

Cleansing – Washing your face with a gentle cleanser is the first step of any skincare regimen. What we recommend additionally is ensuring that the cleanser you buy is rid of any preservatives. Check whether it is all natural, you can check the ingredients section on the label. To figure out which cleanser works best for your skin type, take the skin quiz here.

Exfoliating – Proper exfoliation ensures the removal of dead skin cells and helps in the unclogging of pores on the surface of the skin. Although beneficial, it is important not to overdo it. Depending on the coarseness of the scrub’s granules, you should exfoliate 2-3 times a week. You can also find a scrub tailor made for your skin by taking the skin quiz and then jumping to the ‘meticulous’ regimen.

Toning –  Toning is an optional step in your skincare regimen and people with dry skin can afford to skip it. It can work wonders though, especially for people with oily or combination skin who are looking for a smooth, clear skin. Toning helps tighten the pores by removing the dirt and unclogging the pores. Always ensure that you use an alcohol free toner, as alcohol dries out your skin.

Moisturize – Moisturizing helps regulate the moisture balance of the skin and keeps a check on excess oil production. Remember to choose a moisturizer based on your skin type. Find one for yourself here. Moreover, keeping skin hydrated and moisturized gets increasingly important as we age. So age also has a role to play in the type of moisturizer you should select for yourself.

Night Cream – Night time is ideal for the body to work on repair and renewal of our skin. It is therefore imperative that we supplement this process by using an efficacious night cream which bolsters this process and helps the body tackle the minor imperfections that might be creeping in.
